Flea and Tick Control in Wakeley

Control for Fleas and Ticks

Not all parasites are immediately life-threatening on their own. However, fleas and ticks may still be carriers for serious and even deadly diseases, and at the very least they will be irritating for your pet. Make sure that you watch your pets for signs of these irritants and take the proper steps to treat and prevent them.

Fleas

If a pet is losing hair or scratching or biting themselves more often, then they may have fleas. You can often help prevent fleas by making sure you keep your home clean, especially carpets and bedding where fleas may hide. Check your pet for fleas on their body as well, especially on the rump and groin. When that's not quite enough, we can help you find safe and effective flea treatment for your furry friends.

Treatment for Fleas

You can check for fleas at home or at a clinic, and you might also be able to treat your pet's fleas at home. However, remember that some flea treatments may be too strong and could harm your pet as well as the fleas. Make sure to get professional advice when you need to use any flea treatments for your pet.
Help With Prevention and Treatment

Ticks

Search your pet's entire body when travelling in or from tick-affected regions in order to catch an infection quickly. While some ticks are merely irritating, the paralysis tick can cause paralysis and death within two to four days. These ticks may initially cause weakness, vomiting and difficulty breathing, and sometimes, cause pets to make weird noises. Be especially careful of these ticks on the eastern seaboard.

Treatment for Ticks

It is important to remove ticks carefully, ideally without killing them first, as they may release more toxin upon death. If your pet shows signs of being bitten by a paralysis tick, contact animal emergency services as soon as possible to get help. They can administer antiserum and give you further help to remove the ticks.
